The root of any good story is the struggle.
Without any struggle? There really is no story.
As humans we grow up reading and listening to stories.
They are what provide us with lessons, wisdom, humour and laughter.
They provide sadness, excitement, astonishment, and more.
They make us feel.
They allow us to connect.
But what makes any story can feel impossibly hard in the moment when you are living through it.
But given time we see the reality.
The job that suddenly let you go, way before you used it as fuel to create your own.
The person that rejected you, before you went on to find your soul mate.
The stupid mistake you made that later turned out to be the greatest piece of luck you ever had.
The tales we share nearly always felt extremely challenging to live through, at the time.
But life is full of struggle and challenges and those are exactly what creates our story and the ones that we tell.
They shape who we become.
Think of any film you like. Was everyone happy and at peace throughout?
Were there no challenges or problems to overcome?
If so, it would be the worst movie of all time.
Hence why we’ve never seen one that is smooth sailing for the entire watch.
Our life is no different.
We often look back with a laugh or a smile. There comes a time when we share the distress and crisis we had over a coffee or a beer with friends.
They make us laugh, cry, feel.
Our stories connect us. They bring us closer to others. They teach and inform us and also the people around us.
I believe life is working for us, not against us.
We just can’t see that in the difficult moments.
I know by experience that to be true.
But we will, one day, have many extraordinary lessons and wisdom to be grateful for.
If life feels like it’s against you right now, it’s most likely just shaping a better version of you down the line with an even better story to tell.
Thanks for reading.
With Love. Nick x
